The Heart of a Child

I had to share the LOL story. I am constantly telling Drew to put on socks with his tennis shoes. Well Wed. I was getting him ready for Soccer practice and took off his tennis shoes to put on soccer cleats. Of course no socks! I said, "Man your feet stink" and his reply was " Well I was putting on my shoes and I said God do I have to put on my socks and He said NO you do not have to wear your socks, so I didn't." Of course I fall out laughing then said "why did he tell you that" and he said "because I read my bible". Don't you just love the mouths of babes.

Soccer Game #1

Well soccer has started. We have been going for almost a month now, but due to weather we have only played 1 game. Here are some highlight pictures from that game. Drew scored 3 goals and had 8 yes 8 saves at goalie. Hopefully the weather will start cooperating with us.

Finishing out basketball

Thank you Nana & Steve for coming to watch us play. We love you!

Well since my last blog we finished our last couple of games. Here are a few pics to sum it up. They both ended up with awesome basketball seasons. This is Lauren's favorite sport and she is already ready to start again. Drew can't decide on a favorite sport. He has already started soccer. We are so proud of them both. Drew ended up with the Best Effort award for the entire season and team. He played the best overall-offensive, defensive, hustle, sportsmanship, etc. He has a big award hung up in his room. Lauren finished with the defensive award. She is a monster on defense. She had 5 steals her last game alone. Ok I will stop now.

I'm back

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. All I can say is CRAZY!!! I'm back and here we go.

Warming up with Big Papaw

WOW!  What a busy day.  We started off at Drew's game.  He played outstanding with a big 10 points.  He got the Offense award.  I have a few great pics from today.  Some are Big Papaw, Daddy and Drew warming up.  Thank you Big Papaw and Ginny Trish for coming to watch us play.  Then we were off to Laurens's game.  She had a nail bitter.  They pulled out a big win of 30-27.  Lauren scored 6 points today and she too received the offense award.  We said goodbye to Big Papaw and Trish, the we were off to the sports store because Drew has outgrown his soccer cleats.  From there we went home to grab shin guards and a sandwich then off to soccer practice.  It didn't take long and Drew was back into the soccer swing.  We cut practice short due to very cold wind and then finally headed home for the day.  We have soccer video below.

My new Camera

My wonderful husband got me a new camera for Valentines.  Here is a video I made from some of the pics I took of the kids playing in the back yard Thursday.  Their Daddy would throw the ball up really high in the sky and they were catching it.  Then we had a little football game, then finished on the trampoline.  We had a great time!!

Happy Valentines Day!!

We have a busy Valentines, but never to busy for love.  These are a few pics from Valentines morning.  Lauren got some clothes for her American Girl Doll and Drew got a Wii (paintball) game.  Of course, we had to play a little joke on Drew at first he thought he was getting a bag of golf tees.  Funny Daddy!!

Marley gets a haircut

Our sweet precious Marley got his first haircut.  He is absolutely adorable.  Here are a few pics of him.

Game # 5

Michael and I had to coach Drew's team today so no pics or video.  Both had great games again.  Drew had 6 points.  Lauren played great also.  We are truly enjoying watching them grow as basketball players and christians.

Super Bowl

We had a fun time watching the Super Bowl.  To bad the Cardinals didn't pull it out.  We sure were pulling for them.  It was a very exciting game.  These are some pictures from the kids watching the 3D commercials and Marley having a little football action.

Now we are ready for RECRUITING DAY.  GO BAMA!!

Game #4

A full Saturday of games.  Thank you Gran for coming to watch us play.
We started off at Drew's game.  He had a GREAT game.  He scored 6 points and had several steals.  His coach told everyone after the game, "in all his years of coaching he had never seen a child hustle like Drew".
We left Drew's game and headed straight to Lauren's.  She had another awesome games.  She scored 4 points and had a couple of steals.  The other team put their best defender on Lauren.  Kudos to that girl, she held Lauren to only 4 points.  We were very proud of them both.  Lauren got the Best Defense award.

I have a short highlight clip from each game.  Enjoy!!

Drew's highlights!

Lauren's highlights!

Lauren gets a Hair Cut

As everyone knows, Lauren has a ton of hair. It is absolutely beautiful, but a headache everyday. This week we decided to get rid of some of it. Having her hair done is not on the top of Laurens "like to do" list as you can tell from the pictures. Thank you Ciara for the haircut. It is beautiful.

Our Little Snow

We had yet another snow this week. Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

Game #3

Lauren after the big win!!!

Another full day of basketball.  Thank you Nana and Steve for coming down to watch us play.  Drew had a big day with 6 points.  Several break aways, but couldn't get them to fall in.  He got the defense award for his hustle of defense.  His highlight was that he played against his friend James and they got to guard each other.

Lauren had another great game.  She scored 4 points and about 10-12 rebounds.  She had to play low post a lot today.  Now keep in mind she is the smallest on her team, but her coach puts her down there because she rebounds so well.  We were very proud of her, she hung in there with those tall girls.  They were all over her today.  She got the Best Effort award for being such a well rounded player for her team today.  She went from point guard to low post.  Her team won 31-26.  Go Commadores!!  All video is on our video camera so I can't download it to our blog.  I did get some video of her shooting free throws but she missed them, so she would be mad if I put it on here.

Marley gets his cast off!!

Game #2

Lauren and Drew both played great again.  We started the day off with Drew's game at 9:00.  He scored 2 points.  Keep in mind these kids are 5 or Kindergarten.  They are still trying to grasp what is going on so it is a lot of fun to watch.   Drew got the Christ-likeness award for the game because he worked very hard to get the ball to all his teammates to have a chance to score.  We left his game, grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed 30 min. across town for Lauren's game.  She played outstanding again.  She had 6 points, 10 + rebounds and hustled great.  Lauren got the defensive award this week.  She had to defend the other teams best player (point guard) and did an awesome job.  Lauren plays point guard most of the game and wing the rest.  Yet she will get in there faster than lighting to rebound.  She is very aggressive.  We, the Lady Commadores, won 24-22, a very close game.  We were again very proud of both of them.  They love this sport.

Andi's Baby Shower

Baby Briley you are Beautiful, sweetheart!!

We had baby Reed's Baby shower today.  Chris and Andi got tons and tons of items.  It was great to see everyone and we can't wait to meet baby Reed sometime in Feb.

Following after their parents...

Lauren and Drew started their basketball seasons this weekend.  This is Laurens 2nd season and Drew's 1st.  They both played outstanding.  Drew's league does not keep score but he had 2 points and several several steals.  He is a great ball handler. I have a few pics of him, but all video is on our video camera (I do not have a cord to connect it to my computer). He got the Best Effort reward from his coach for playing great all around.
Lauren moved up a league and now keeps score.  They lost 22-16, but Lauren had 10 points, several rebounds and hustled like you would never believe. I did get a short video of her on my camera to post. She got the Best offense award from her coach.  Her coach said "she was light'n up".   We were very proud parents to say the least.  They love this sport and we love watching them have fun.

Poor Marley

Well one of those days.  Drew and his friend was doing a "handoff" of the puppy for Drew to put on his shoes and Marley jumped out of their arms and hit the hardwoods.  I was teaching science in the office and did not see exactly how he fell or what he hit.  Drew says his paw hit this wall table we have in the foyer.  I am personally not sure because I did not see it yet I was only 5 feet away.  Anyway he would not put pressure on it and kept crying we he tried to walk.  Luckily our Vet is at the end of our street (literally 30 sec.) so we ran down there for x-rays.   1 hour and $130 later our final diagnosis, Marley has a small fracture in his paw.  No pain meds because of his age and they do not want him to walk on it.  So I am carrying him around like a baby when he is not sleeping so he will not walk on it.   He will have follow up x-rays on Tuesday along with his 3rd round of shots.  Anyone like to donate to the Marley foundation?  LOL.  Oh well, that is having a pet for you.  At least he will be OK.

Back to School

We have started back to school today.  It is going to take us a few days to get back in the routine.  We have enjoyed having a break.  This half we also have to factor in the dog.  Marley has done very well today.  He has hung out with us in the playroom and napped on the beanbag.  He has only had one accident in the house today.  Thank you God that it was downstairs on the hardwoods and not upstairs on the carpet.  This is by far the hardest part about having pets.  We love him though.  Got to get back to school.  Time for History and we will be done.  Love to you all.
